Laning Bros. Farm’s is looking for 80 hardworking individuals to join us for the 2026 season. We run a fast-paced operation, and we’re looking for people who take pride in their work, respect the land, and aren’t afraid of a long day’s work in the field.
What the Job Looks Like
This is a high-energy, physical role. You’ll be involved in the entire lifecycle of our crops—from planting and weeding to the final harvest.
- Harvesting Peppers & Cucumbers: You’ll be bending, stooping, and picking produce based on size and color. You’ll need to be careful not to bruise the vegetables while carrying containers weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Lettuce & Cabbage: You’ll be using knives to cut mature heads and leaves, grading them for quality, and packing them right there in the field.
- Equipment & Maintenance: Some workers will operate tractors and help with general farm equipment repairs. We’ll provide full safety training before you get behind the wheel.
- Farm Upkeep: We all pitch in to keep the farm clean. This includes cleaning work areas, bathrooms, and ensuring no trash is left in the fields.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: You must have at least 2 months of experience hand-harvesting perishable crops. We’ll ask for a reference from a previous farm to confirm this.
- Physical Stamina: You should be prepared to work at a steady, vigorous pace for the whole shift. The weather in NJ can range from 40°F to over 100°F, and we work through dew and rain.
- Strict Sanitation: Because we grow food for people to eat, hygiene is our top priority. You must wash your hands thoroughly after breaks and follow all GAP food safety rules.
- Safety: We maintain a drug-free workplace. Random testing may occur after you start, as safety in the fields and around machinery is non-negotiable.
A Note on Health
Since this is an outdoor environment, please be aware that active allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, or common agricultural sprays may make this role difficult for you.
